Abstract

One of the main current worldwide concerns is the growth of water pollution by organic compounds arising from many industrial, agricultural and urban human activities. Most of these compounds, especially dyes, are persistent organic pollutants that are very resistant to conventional treatment methods. Therefore, wastewater treatment is a very important issue. In the present study, ZnO nanoparticles were coated on a titanium electrode by an electrophoretic deposition method and examined by Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Modified electrode, as an anode, was used for the simultaneous removal of Malachite Green, Acid Yellow 3, Acid Red 33 and Reactive Orange 7 through the advanced electrochemical oxidation process. Color removal efficiencies of Malachite Green, Acid Yellow 3, Acid Red 33 and Reactive Orange 7 were 84.06, 79.19, 93.53, and 94.28 % respectively, which was obtained using multivariate calibration (partial least squares).
